Nice photo of Kyle Straight. For this event, his set-up was in fact the Fox DHX Coil 5.0 8.75/2.75 with the progressive offset spring collar.
You guys MIGHT be able to do this also. I say might because there are a lot of variables.
It only works with the slack shock shuttle. It may not work with the blue volume adjuster all the way out. It may not work with all spring weights. You may have to remove the filler valve air cap or get a lower profile one. You will not be able to adjust the air pressure with the shock mounted in place. You will also be mixing Fox and Progressive parts, so I cannot guarantee that they will mate correctly. Neither Fox nor Progressive would endorse this either. An after-market Fox shock does not meet our exact tolerances like an OE shock does. Nor is it tuned optimally. Bottom line, I cannot officially recommend nor guarantee the success of this mod. Feel free to rant at this point.
Having said all that, it has worked in every case Ive tried, so your chances are pretty good that it will work. As long as the shock fits in the frame in the static position you are good to go.
