I've been told there is a temporary fix-part that will reduce the travel 4-5mm or so. Some time later Manitou is supposed to release a new fix-part that will restore the 5mm."

I took my Nixon Platinum to Interbike and stupidly had Manitoo work on it there. They installed the bumper which limits travel to 137mm until the longer damper rods come out (soon). Before the mod, you could drop the fork to a very short travel setting and it would still result in a very useable, very progressive action. The SPV chamber was obviously calibrated to bring the end-stroke ramp up to a finish at a specific point. Now the fork hits the new bumper before the SPV chamber can finish it's bottomout magic and it just sort of slams home. I guess I could crank the progressive chamber adjustment to min volume, but I did not have to do that before. Also, the fork's IT travel adjuster worked beautifully before the mod, but now the fork does not stay down in it's lowered travel setting any more. It creeps back up pretty rapidly as if there were a bleed between the air chambers. I guess I will have to take the fork apart to see what the IT problem is, and while I'm in there I'm gonna round-file the new bumper

Vi racconto cosa e' successo a me:
mi sono comprato una magnifica Nixon Platinum il 22/10/04, questo dopo essere stato all'EICMA e aver parlato con il tecnico della Freewheeling.
Diceva che la forka era perfettamente funzionante.
Alla prima uscita (24/10/04): la forka non resta a 145mm di corsa ma scende fino a zero.
25/10/04 vado dal negoziante che mi informa che Manitou e' a coscenza del problema e devo mandare la forka in riparazione. Ci vorra solo 1 mese.
Secondo voi cosa dovrei fare? Posso non chiedere un'altra forka dato che l'ho acquistata per l'escursione che aveva?
