When David Zimberoff, SRAMs Global Communications Manager, commissioned Japanese artist Yasuhito Yaz Udagawa to construct two robots from SRAM, RockShox, Avid and Truvativ parts, he was expecting a non-traditional method of visually demonstrating the integration of all four SRAM brands, and that, along with some really cool looking bike part robot sculptures, is exactly what he got.
Each sculpture is constructed from nearly 300 pieces and parts, stands 16 tall, weighs 10 lbs., and is fully articulating. Originally named Good and Evil, the robots are constructed mainly of componentry from all four of SRAMs brands. These include SRAM chains, cassettes, front and rear derailleurs, Avid brake levers and calipers, miniaturized RockShox forks and Truvativ crank arms.
These two robots are an artistic study of how SRAM has been able to integrate brands and grow into the industrys second largest component supplier through development and acquisition, stated David Z. The robot display was entitled Intelligent Technology Brought to Life, and SRAM is defined by innovation, product development, and technology.
